Hellter Skelter’s Tribute To The Late, Great Chyna

This past week, the professional wrestling world lost one of its great pioneers in Joanie Laurer AKA Chyna. Not only did the Ninth Wonder of the World revolutionize women’s wrestling in the 1990s and 2000s, but she made every man that she stepped in the ring with raise their games as well. During her time in the WWE and beyond, she was an inspiration to many fans and wrestlers alike, including the members of our own staff. But come are certainly more affected than others.

For those of you who don’t know, in addition to owning and operating Tales From The Turnbuckle, our very own Hellter Skelter has traveled all over the independent wrestling scene and has had the chance to work with a number of legends in the business. But as is the case with most warriors that step into the squared circle, he started out as a fan. And as a fan, he admired many performers over the years, including Chyna. That’s why he sent me a few words to honor the former WWE Intercontinental Champion and innovator:

Chyna WWE Women's Champion“I’m still very emotional over Chyna’s death. This wrestling death has effected me more then any other death. “Macho Man” Randy Savage is my favorite wrestler of all time. I love the Ultimate Warrior as well. And I was even good friends with both Balls Mahoney and Axl Rotten. Although for some reason, Chyna’s death is getting to me the most.  I only spoke to her live and in person once. I had the honor of doing an interview with her and chatted with her a bunch of times on Twitter messages, but even from our minimal interactions, I saw that she was such a nice lady. Very polite. Very good hearted.  She didn’t deserve all the drama that happened in her life, but she absolutely deserves a spot in the Hall of Fame for all of her contributions to the company. She was really a great person and I miss her dearly. Rest in Peace, Chyna.”

What are some of your favorite Chyna moments? Do you remember her time as a founding member of Degeneration X most or are you more fond of her time with Eddie Guerrero or Mark Henry? And how long do you think it will take for her to take her rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame? Let us know in the comments and share your own tributes as well.
