Featherweight Jordan Parsons from MMA has passed away after injuries sustained after a hit-and-run accident in Florida on Sunday morning.
Parsons was crossing an intersection on foot early Sunday when a silver Range Rover sport struck him and fled from the scene.
Parsons was taken to the hospital where his leg was amputated and his organs began failing as he was in critical condition. A GoFundMe page was started to support Parson’s medical bills and finances, and had reached over $32,000 at the time of his death.
Parsons was 11-2 in MMA, including 2-1 in Bellator. He last fought in November, losing to Bubba Jenkins at Bellator 146. Parsons was only 25 years old.
Bellator’s Scott Coker issued a statement regarding the passing, saying the following:
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a dear member of the Bellator family, Jordan Parsons. Jordan was an exceptional athlete and a rising star in the sport. But more importantly, he was an exceptional young man. Jordan was hard-working, dedicated, intelligent, and a pleasure to be around. He represented all the reasons we love this sport. It is a terribly tragic loss and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and teammates
I don’t watch to much MMA. I feel MMA and Pro Wrestling have the same feel and same kind of fans. I think this is news worthy to a wrestling site. 25 Years old is just too damn young. I feel so bad for friends and family of Jordan. He was so young and had so much to offer to the MMA world.
